CUTTING SOD

Lawn care often requires the cutting of sod. You might be adding flower or planting beds, a sidewalk, driveway, concrete patio, pavers, or pools. Cutting sod can be difficult, or easy, your choice. You can cut sod with a hand cutter, or with a sharp spade or a gas powered sod cutter. A power sod cutter has a blade that cuts and lifts sod up in long 18" strips that can be rolled up for easy removal. When a person thinks of a power sod cutter, you imagine commercial contractors harvesting turf in some field. But actually it has a lot of great uses. Imagine installing a new sidewalk, concrete patio or driveway and in minutes removing that strip of sod without disturbing the soil. Or you can cut a strip from your yard, trench and install sprinkler pipe, and then replace that sod leaving minor evidence of construction. Pavers can be installed easily and very level with your turf. Or, you can harvest sod in one location to install in another.
